Myself and the better half have been on some of the new Stadler Flirts going around Cardiff and were favourably impressed with them. Not been on the Citylink class 398s yet but the Flirts really do have the feel of a modern metro train, as opposed to an old unit being gradually retired on an urban network.

From Government Business
Thanks to an £800 million investment package from the Welsh government, more than two thirds of passenger journeys in Wales are on new and improved trains. They are roomier, with better seating, modern air conditioning, power sockets, Wi-Fi, and live travel information screens for passengers
I wonder how that compares with other train operators - what proportion of passengers journeys in the South West of England, for example, are made on "new and improved trains". Come to think of it, what counts as a new train?
