Only Connect - Lion Wall - AQ 8.12.2025

How many members watch "Only Connect" on TV (BBC2)? One of the games the teams are asked to answer if to find four groups of four somehow-related words or things from a 4 by 4 wall of 16 - for example four words that express happiness, or four names that contain a foodstuff.  It's made more complex by the categories being somewhat obscure, and by there being more than four items that fit a category - those extre combinations ruled out because some of the items fit multiple categories and those that multi-fit have to be in the "right" place because of the need for four in some other group which might otherwiser be incomplete.

Only Connect uses ancient Egyptian hyroglyphs to name questions ... and is played by two teams.   Here is my first wall for today (a second is prepared and may follow) - the "Lion" wall.  Expect me to reject some apparent good conbinations with "no, that's not it" as you find four perfectly good linked items, but one or more have to be held back for another category.

Ainsdale, Carbis Bay, Corkickle and Dawlish Warren are coastal stations that are also 'edge of suburbia' stations (to at least a degree):

Ainsdale on edge of Southport
Carbis Bay on edge of St Ives
Corkickle on edge of Whitehaven
Dawlish Warren on edge of Dawlish

"Only Connect" walls make for a poor quiz on a forum such as the Coffee Shop.   They are fun to watch on TV or to play on your laptop ... but here, they encourage follow ups in which members make connections which are good and valid, but do not fit into the grid.  My apologies for putting up something which encouraged guesses that turned out to be  the wrong ones , and my thanks and admiration for the brave souls who hazarded a guess.

The base data I had for the Lion wall was

Next station is "saint"
Severn Beach
Hayle
Carbis Bay
Corkickle

Proposed for closure by Beeching but still with us
Lelant
Sandplace
Llanbister Road
Ainsdale

Camping Coaches
Blue Anchor
St Germans
Dawlish Warren
Ravenglass

Stations where trains reverse midjourney
Bere Alston
Coombe Junction
Battersby
Bodmin General

I will - intentionally - waste the water wall.  Post and answer.
